Three Major SEO
Factors
Search Engine Optimization
(SEO) has three major components to a
successful campaign: Crawability, Content and
Credibility.
Crawlability: Ensure that
the spider-based search engines can effectively crawl or "read"
your website. To do so, perform a site:YourDomain.com in
Google, Yahoo! and others to see how many pages of your site
are indexed. Is your site under-represented? If so, it could
indicate that the search engines can not effectively read your
site's content. If your site is over-represented, it could
indicate duplicate content issues.
Content: Verify that your
critical keywords show up in your website's content. How many
pages of your site actually contain your keyword phrase(s)?
Many advertisers are surprised to learn how few times their
target keywords actually appear in the site's
content.
Credibility: Capitalize on
relevant link building where appropriate to build credibility
with the search engines. The more relevant inbound links to
your site, the more likely a search engine will think your site
is relevant to the end user. The more relevant you are to the
search query, the higher you will rank in the results. First
think of all the companies or sites with whom you have a direct
relationship - partners, investors, sister companies, different
business units within your company. If they are relevant to
your business, ask them for a link to your site from
theirs. For more
